Nico Rosberg wants improved communication

Nico Rosberg has urged Mercedes to improve communication after he came home a distant third in the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Mercedes’ run of victories, which stretched back to last year’s Italian Grand Prix, was ended by Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari at Sepang.

Rosberg lost out as Mercedes stacked its drivers in the pits under the Safety Car, and later had to work his way through traffic.

He ultimately crossed the line four seconds adrift of team-mate Lewis Hamilton, and a further eight behind race winner Vettel.

“It’s difficult as the engineers aren’t in the race cars,” said Rosberg.

“They have computers and numbers, but we have nothing.

“I struggle to know what is going on. To stay on it, it’s important to have details. I was missing that a bit today, so we’ll discuss that after so I can have a better picture going on.

“I didn’t understand after the first stop why I was closing on Lewis and then when we pitted he went into the distance, but it turns out he was on a different tyre which I didn’t know.”

Rosberg has slipped to third in the championship standings after Sunday’s race result, 10 points behind Hamilton, and seven adrift of Vettel.
