Nico Rosberg has backed the FIA’s decision to postpone qualifying until Sunday morning

Mercedes star Rosberg has more to lose than most if qualifying is cancelled tomorrow, as race stewards will likely refer to the FP3 times – in which he was only ninth fastest after going off early in the session and then not running when the track was at its best.

When asked if postponing qualifying on Saturday was the right decision, Rosberg said: “Yeah for sure. It is the only decision that could be taken because it was not possible to drive out there.

“Let’s hope we can drive tomorrow morning, that will be important. Other than that – this morning it was still raining a lot and it was sort of driveable. So it doesn’t take much.

“It just needs to calm down a little bit and we should be able to get out there no problem.”
