British Grand Prix stewards have cleared Nico Rosberg after an investigation into an alleged regulation breach during Saturday’s qualifying session at Silverstone.

Rosberg adjudged to have exceeded the allowed time between Safety Car lines during Q1, and was summoned to see the stewards, along with a Mercedes representative.

“Alleged breach of Article 27.5 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations, exceeding the maximum time set by the FIA between the Safety Car line after the pit exit and Safety Car line before the pit entry at 13:05,” read the statement issued by the British Grand Prix stewards.

After assessing video footage, however, the stewards decided not to penalise Rosberg as he “was not on an in lap when the time between the Safety Car lines was set”.

Rosberg therefore keeps second position on the grid.
