Mercedes chief Toto Wolff has warned their Formula One rivals that his team will not become complacent this season after dominating in 2014.
Mercedes won 16 of the 19 races on the F1 calendar last year, with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg battling it out for the drivers’ title, which was eventually won by the former.
Meanwhile, the Silver Arrows took the constructors’ crown by a massive margin of 296 points from Red Bull, with Hamilton and Rosberg securing ten 1-2 finishes during a near-perfect campaign.
However, Wolff is determined to prove that that is just the start for Mercedes, who impressed again during pre-season testing at Jerez.
He told F1’s official website: “If you lose motivation after the first championship, then something would be wrong. We have achieved step number one on our agenda.
“True, we had an extraordinary season – 16 wins out of 19 races. This is not something that we can automatically expect for this year, or any other season, because it was exceptional. Nevertheless we will try.
“For the moment everything has been set back to zero, so we start out like all the other teams and now it is all about doing the best possible job over the next ten months.”
